ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the relationship between serum 25(OH) vitamin D and liver fat content in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).@*METHODS@#A total of 120 patients with NAFLD admitted in our hospital between June and August, 2017 were enrolled and divided into 4 groups with different serum 25 (OH) vitamin D levels: >75 nmol/L (group A, =25), 50-75 nmol/L (group B, =35), 25-50 nmol/L (group C, =32), and < 25 nmol/L (group D, =28). For all the patients, serum 25 (OH) vitamin D level was measured by ELISA, and liver fat content was determined using in-phase opposed-phase TWI sequences. The measurement data were compared among the 4 groups to assess the association between serum 25(OH) vitamin D level and liver fat content.@*RESULTS@#The liver fat content appeared to be higher in group B (28.66±6.45%) and group C (38.74±11.47%) than in group A (22.79 ± 6.10%), but the difference was not statistically significant (>0.05); the liver fat content in group D (54.79 ± 5.28%) was significantly higher than that in the other 3 groups (>0.05). Liver fat content increased significantly as serum 25(OH) vitamin D level decreased, showing an inverse correlation between them in these patients ( < 0.05, =-0.125).@*CONCLUSIONS@#In patients with NAFLD, a decreased serum 25(OH) vitamin D level is associated with an increased liver fat content, suggesting the value of serum 25(OH) vitamin D as a predictor of NAFLD.

ABSTRACT

The source indexes for the coverage of Chinese biomedical journals in MEDLINE were analyzed and compared with the mean values of those for the journals in each subject, which showed that the number of MEDLINE-covered papers published in Chinese medical journals was small ( about 260 papers each year) , the number of au-thors in each paper was 5 and the number of references in each paper was 17 with a half-life of 6. 175 years. The MEDLINE-covered Chinese medical journals did not emphasize on the publication of papers from overseas. However, it seemed that they could attract more found-supported papers.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the anti-tumor action of Chang'aishu and its influence on the expression of the Ki67 and PCNA. Methods Forty Balb/c mice with CT-26 colorectal cancer were randomly divided into four groups, including the control group (normal saline, 0.6 mL), the chemotherapy group (Xeloda 205.5 mg/kg), the high dose group (Chang'aishu 51.38 g/kg) and the low dose group (Chang'aishu 17.13 g/kg). Each group of mice was treated with intragastric administration every two days. After 15 days, the anti-tumor rate was calculated and the expression of Ki67 and PCNA were analyzed by immunohistochemistry. Results Compared with the control group, inhibitive rate of the chemotherapy group, the high dose group and the low dose group was 43.35%, 29.48% and 13.30%, respectively. Compared with the control group, the treatment group showed statistical significant difference in Ki67 and PCNA (P<0.05, P<0.01). Conclusion Chang'aishu had inhibition effect on the growth of colorectal cancer, which may be related to down-regulating the expression of Ki67 and PCNA.

ABSTRACT

The highly down-loaded 175 papers from 7 journals of ophthalmology covered in Scopus database in 2011 were analyzed, showing that the most concerned subjects were rintinopathy, macular edema, glaucoma, neovasculariza-tion,Ranibizumab, retinal blood vessel obstruction, OCT,cornea, artificial lens, diabetic retinopathy, nanometer medicine and technology, the research has extended to retro-ocular segment from anterior-ocular segment, the papers of multiple authors accounted for 92%, the reviews accounted for 51.42%and were highly down-loaded.
